On the 33rd floor of The Shard, Hutong’s Chinese cuisine is really amazing. The Shard boasts unprecedented panoramic views across the city. On a bright, sunny day the views over the River Thames are just glorious. Be sure to book well in advance as this is a popular hot spot for both tourists and Londoners. The top tip is to have an early booking, to try and guarantee a seat by the window.
The décor is stylish and the service friendly and swift. The all glass building has such gorgeous light by day it really is just the nicest place to capture the city.
Hutong is a superb choice for a celebration, be it a romantic dinner for Valentine’s day, a loved one’s birthday or an anniversary. The food is delightful. The dim sum menu is extensive and comes highly recommended and is our firm favourite. The Xiao long bao is so authentic and just like the speciality dim sum we savoured in China. It’s a unique dim sum to eat. If you bite into you will lose the hot broth that fills it and if you take it all in one bite you will be sure to burn your tongue. We haven’t quite figured out how to eat it but its so juicy and delicious no matter how you eat it. In China they take a little nip from the side, slurp it and then bite the rest but we haven’t mastered that just yet. Each dim sum has been cooked to perfection with attention to detail on both flavour and the intricate presentation. Enjoying the perfect view of London, with some great food is rather satisfying.
