The Art of the Brick

The Art of the Brick

Nathan Sawaya has transformed ordinary, colourful Lego blocks into mind blowing, extraordinary sculptures. The Art of the Brick exhibition is currently showcased rather aptly on London’s Brick Lane. From the moment you step into the exhibition, you are immersed in a world where imagination knows no bounds. As a VIP guest you get to skip the queue, should there be any, and take home a poster of your favourite Lego exhibit.

There’s a diverse range of sculptures, from simple everyday objects to even a huge dinosaur. There are amazing recreations of famous art works, including Van Gogh’s “Starry Night.” Each piece is impressive in its detail and phenomenal in its scale.

Some of the pieces are thought provoking, delving into the deeper themes of life experience, and self-discovery.

“The Art of the Brick” has a lego pit, which is brilliant for inspired kids to enjoy and get creative. Whilst sitting on small bits of lego may not seem that appealing, the kids are simply thrilled! There’s even a Duplo pit for younger children and they all seem quite content amongst the bricks piled high.

There’s an interactive station for kids to colour in and project their art work onto the wall. Our little man was in Lego heaven and really loved the whole experience and has not stopped talking about. He left feeling energised and enthusiastic about his next build.

“The Art of the Brick” offers a memorable journey through the art of innovation and play and takes around an hour to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and would highly recommend it as a wonderful treat for a special celebration for Lego fans, both big and small. Be sure to check it out in London, or catch it on it’s world tour.
