Yuu Kitchen is a rather funky, modern East London joint. The decor is uber cool, with Manga style art on the walls, and bird cages.hanging overhead. Inspired by the fusion of flavours of South-East Asia and the Pacific Rim, the menu is mouth watering.
Sitting at the bar overlooking the chefs table is great, as you can watch the theatrics of the food being flame cooked on the big green egg BBQs.
How have we not tried Bubble tea before? It’s brilliant! The lemon, iced green tea have pearls that burst in your mouth to release a juice that tantalises the taste buds.
The Vietnamese vegetarian Ssam is a lettuce wrapped deep fried spring roll packed full of corn, mushrooms and noodles, with a sweet chilli sauce. The crunch from the spring roll and the texture of the crisp lettuce makes it ever so pleasing to the palate.
The sweet and sticky eggplant with wok fried white miso glaze, crunchy shallots and sesame is served piping hot. And when I say hot, I mean scorching hot! After letting it cool down, it’s crisp on the outside and just melts in the mouth.
The grilled cauliflower is transformed by sweetcorn, jalepeño dressing, shallots, garlic chips and chives.
No longer are vegetarians getting a raw deal as these dishes were all packed full of fresh flavours and definitely amongst our favourite, and will see you battling with your chopsticks to clear the plate.
The baos are little buns that are generously filled with a variety of delicious centres.
The twice cooked braised pork belly served with BBQ sauce, cucumber pickles, and peanut is just delicious.
The Soy & buttermilk crispy chicken is served with carolina reaper chilli sauce, and daikon pickle.
The 150 day grain fed sirloin doused in BBQ sauce is succulent, and so moreish.
The BBQ’d Octopus braised with sake, mirin and soy with a ginger and garlic sauce is lifted by he sprinkling of coriander.
The warm, moist coconut bread cake topped with ice cream is the perfect end to an excellent meal.
Yuu Kitchen is pulling out all the stops to deliver amazingly fresh flavours that are well balanced and absolutely delicious. Yuu Kitchen is perfect for casual dining and a great place to catch up with friends on their long tables. It’s vibrant, and has a very cool vibe and great for a celebration. Make any excuse to visit, as it’s definitely the place to eat on Commercial Street. We can’t wait to go back.
