It seems floral fever has landed in London this May, with the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show and Hyde Park’s Rose Gardens in full bloom. From now until 31 May 2017, Lancaster London chefs are switching bags of flour for flowers and butter for buttercups, as they present the ‘blooming marvellous’ Flower Afternoon Tea.
The botanical creamy Lavender chocolate mousse cake, white chocolate macaroons topped with crystallised violets and the tangy Lime and elderflower trifle with edible flowers, are just some of the new delights on the menu. The Flower Afternoon Tea features traditional scones with classic toppings of strawberry jam, clotted cream, and a delectably nectar-sweet orange blossom jam. There are plenty of tasty, savoury treats too. The home-smoked salmon roses on rye bread and Coronation chicken served on sweet cranberry bread are amongst the impressive spread. There are warm tartlets of English asparagus, with exotic saffron and sun-blushed tomatoes and delicious Sunflower seeded choux buns bursting with British woodland flavours from wild mushroom, truffle oil and cream cheese. The floral afternoon tea at Lancaster London is the perfect Spring treat for any celebration. Be sure to check it out.
